अनुरोध छ means a request is made: it follows the -न form of the verb.

How It Works

अनुरोध छ is a polite formal ending. The word अनुरोध means request, and छ means that it exists. The whole phrase tells people what the writer hopes they will do.

The verb takes the -न form (आउन, बुझाउन), and a negative request puts न- before the verb: धूमपान नगर्न अनुरोध छ. The person who is asked usually takes लाई, and notices also use मा, as in सबैमा अनुरोध छ.

The same idea has a longer form: अनुरोध गरिन्छ. Both are polite and formal. In speech, people say कृपया ... गर्नुहोस्.

Do not use the -नु form before अनुरोध. The request is made to do something, which needs the -न form.

  1. सबै विद्यार्थीलाई समयमै आउन अनुरोध छ।

    All students are requested to come on time.

    आउन is the -न form before अनुरोध छ.

  2. कृपया शान्त रहन सबैमा अनुरोध छ।

    Everyone is requested to please stay calm.

    The request is addressed to everyone.

  3. आवेदन फारम शनिबारसम्म बुझाउन अनुरोध छ।

    You are requested to submit the application form by Saturday.

    बुझाउन is the -न form.

  4. सम्पूर्ण सदस्यलाई बैठकमा उपस्थित हुन अनुरोध छ।

    All members are requested to attend the meeting.

    लाई marks the people who are asked.

  5. यहाँ धूमपान नगर्न अनुरोध छ।

    You are requested not to smoke here.

    न- makes the request negative.

Common Mistakes

  • Learners use the -नु form before अनुरोध.

    सबै विद्यार्थीलाई समयमै आउनु अनुरोध छ।
    सबै विद्यार्थीलाई समयमै आउन अनुरोध छ।

    The thing requested takes the -न form.
