-ून टाकणे

Finishing an Action Decisively

Level 4Sounds Like ̔ūna ṭākaṇē

It suits actions with a clear end, such as throwing away, eating up or finishing off.

How It Works

टाकणे alone means “throw” or “put down”. After an -ून form it adds a feeling of finishing: the action is done, and nothing remains.

VerbMeaning
फेकून टाकणेto throw away
खाऊन टाकणेto eat up
फाडून टाकणेto tear up
करून टाकणेto get something done
वाचून टाकणेto read right through

It is most natural in requests and plans: हे काम आजच करून टाक. (Get this work done today.) A person who says it wants the matter closed.

The pattern fits actions that can be finished in a moment or in a sitting. It is common with verbs of removing or using up: फेकणे, खाणे, संपवणे.

In the past the verb agrees with an object that has no -ला, and a third-person doer takes -ने: तिने पोळी खाऊन टाकली. With मी there is no -ने: मी काम करून टाकले.

The command forms are टाक and टाका: हे आज संपवून टाक. The second form is polite and firm: हे आज वाचून टाका.
