-ून जाणे / -ून येणे
Doing Something and Going or Coming
जाऊन येणे means to go somewhere and come back: मी बँकेत जाऊन येते.
How It Works
The -ून form names the action. जाणे shows that it is complete, and येणे adds a return.
| Pattern | Meaning | Example |
|---|---|---|
| -ून जाणे | done and gone | विसरून जाणे, सुकून जाणे, निघून जाणे |
| -ून येणे | do it and come back | पिऊन येणे, भेटून येणे, पाहून येणे |
| जाऊन येणे | go and return | बँकेत जाऊन येणे |
With जाणे the action is seen as complete, often something that happens to you or to a thing: a forgotten number, flowers that dried up, a guest who left. A speaker says मी विसरून गेलो to show that it is completely forgotten.
With येणे the first action is a short errand and the speaker is coming back afterwards: चहा पिऊन ये, दुकानात जाऊन ये. In the past, the combination can look back on the whole trip: आजी गावाला जाऊन आल्या.
Spelling: the stem of पिणे is पि. It stays short before -ऊन (पिऊन) and in पितो and पिते, and lengthens in the -त form (पीत).
A request can use the pattern too: विसरून जाऊ नकोस. (Don't forget it.)

Not matching गेली to the noun.
फुले सुकून गेला.फुले सुकून गेली.फुले is a neuter plural, so the verb is गेली.
