कोणाला / कोणाचा
Asking Who with Endings
For the doer of a past action with a verb like करणे, the form is कोणी: हे कोणी केले?
How It Works
| Form | Meaning |
|---|---|
| कोणाला | to whom |
| कोणाचा / कोणाची / कोणाचे | whose |
| कोणाशी | with whom (talking) |
| कोणाबरोबर | with whom (going along) |
| कोणाकडून | from whom |
| कोणासाठी | for whom |
Choose the ending of whose by the thing owned. हा फोन कोणाचा आहे? uses -चा for a masculine noun. ही बॅग कोणाची आहे? uses -ची for a feminine noun. हे पुस्तक कोणाचे आहे? uses -चे for a neuter noun.
Before another ending, the owner takes -च्या: हे कोणाच्या घराचे दार आहे?
With a verb like करणे, the doer of a past action takes the form कोणी: हे कोणी केले? (Who did this?). A verb like येणे keeps कोण: कोण आले?
Use कोणाला in a question about the receiver: तू कोणाला दिलेस? (Who did you give it to?)
When कोण is the doer in the present, it does not change: कोण आहे? means who is there? In a reply, give the person with the same ending: कोणाला? सईला.
