सँ
From, With and than
सँ means from, with a tool, since and than.
How It Works
सँ has several jobs.
| Meaning | Example |
|---|---|
| from | पटना सँ छी |
| with, by (a tool) | कलम सँ लिखैत छी |
| since, from a time | काल्हि सँ |
| than | ओहि सँ पैघ |
It is written as a separate word, with a chandrabindu over the vowel. Hindi से is a different spelling.
For a comparison, put the thing you compare with before सँ and the describing word after: राम सँ पैघ (bigger than Ram).
With people, सँ also means from or by in questions such as अहाँ ककरा सँ पुछैत छी (Whom are you asking?).
