Tell Him I Said

Level 3Sounds Like tko

-თქო marks your words that the listener should pass on to someone else.

How It Works

Look at the people in

  • you speak (მოვალ: I'll come);
  • the listener carries the message (უთხარი: you tell him);
  • Dad gets it (მამას).

The message is in the words you would use with Dad yourself. So to send Nika your thanks, say

Questions work the same way: ჰკითხე, როდის მოდიხარ-თქო (ask him when he's coming).

Don't mix it up with -მეთქი, which reports what you yourself already said, or with -ო, which is for other people's words.

    გელოდებით: we are waiting for you.

I will call you, said to Ana.

Common Mistakes

  • Using -მეთქი for a message to pass on.

    -მეთქი reports what you said; -თქო is for a message the listener passes on.
