რას/ვის
What and Who in Other Cases
რა and ვინ change case: რას means what and ვის means whom or to whom.
How It Works
| Question | Answer |
|---|---|
| რას აკეთებ? (What are you doing?) | წიგნს ვკითხულობ. |
| რას სვამ? (What are you drinking?) | ყავას ვსვამ. |
| ვის ხედავ? (Who do you see?) | ნინოს ვხედავ. |
| რა გინდა? (What do you want?) | ყავა მინდა. |
Compare the answers: წიგნს and ნინოს end in -ს, the dative, so the question words რას and ვის end in -ს too.
ვის also asks about the person who feels, with verbs like უყვარს (loves): ვის უყვარს ხაჭაპური? (Who loves khachapuri?) The person who feels is in the dative.
In the past tense of doing verbs, რა becomes რამ, while ვინ stays ვინ. You will learn this with the ergative at Level 3.
