ჯერ კიდევ
Still
ჯერ კიდევ before the verb means still.
How It Works
| Word | Meaning | Example |
|---|---|---|
| ჯერ კიდევ (jer k'idev) | still | ჯერ კიდევ თოვს. (It's still snowing.) |
| აღარ | no longer | აღარ თოვს. (It isn't snowing anymore.) |
| ჯერ არ | not yet | ჯერ არ თოვს. (It isn't snowing yet.) |
| უკვე | already | უკვე თოვს. (It's already snowing.) |
Each word alone means something else: ჯერ is first or yet, and კიდევ is more or again. Together they mean still.
A question with ჯერ კიდევ often shows surprise: ჯერ კიდევ აქ ხარ? (Are you still here?)
Don't use მაინც for this meaning. მაინც is the still of anyway: წვიმს, მაგრამ მაინც მივდივართ (it's raining, but we're going anyway).
