უკვე
Already
უკვე means already.
How It Works
უკვე (uk've) works much like English already. It usually goes before the verb, or before the place or time it describes.
| Georgian | English |
|---|---|
| უკვე ვიცი. | I already know. |
| უკვე აქ ვარ. | I'm already here. |
| უკვე ცხრა საათი არის. | It's already nine o'clock. |
A very common phrase is უკვე მოვდივარ (I'm already coming). People say it on the phone to mean I'm on my way.
Compare უკვე with ჯერ არ (not yet):
- ნინო უკვე სახლში არის. (Nino is already at home.)
- ნინო ჯერ არ არის სახლში. (Nino isn't at home yet.)
Later, with the past tense, you will use უკვე for things that already happened.
