More and Again

Level 2Sounds Like kʼidev

კიდევ means more, again or else.

How It Works

კიდევ (k'idev) has three common meanings. The words around it show which one you mean.

BeforeMeaningExample
a number or amountmoreკიდევ ერთი ჭიქა (one more glass)
a question wordelseკიდევ რა? (what else?)
a verbagainკიდევ მოვალ (I'll come again)

With მინდა, it means more: კიდევ მინდა (I want more). At the table you will hear it a lot: კიდევ ცოტა ხაჭაპური? (A little more khachapuri?) The answer might be კი, კიდევ ცოტა (yes, a little more).

კიდევ ერთხელ means once more. It is useful when you need someone to repeat something: კიდევ ერთხელ, გთხოვთ (once more, please).

With ჯერ in front, ჯერ კიდევ means still. You will learn that later.
