ჯერ არ
Not Yet
ჯერ არ means not yet: ჯერ არ ვიცი.
How It Works
To say not yet, put ჯერ (jer) before არ.
| Georgian | English |
|---|---|
| ჯერ არ ვიცი. | I don't know yet. |
| ნინო ჯერ არ არის აქ. | Nino isn't here yet. |
| ჯერ ვერ ვლაპარაკობ. | I can't speak yet. |
| ჯერ არა. | Not yet. |
English puts yet at the end of the sentence. Georgian puts ჯერ before არ or ვერ, usually right before it. A word like კარგად can stand between them.
For a short answer, use არა, the form of no that stands alone: მზად ხარ? ჯერ არა. (Are you ready? Not yet.)
ჯერ alone has another meaning, first, which you will use for steps in a story. With არ, it means not yet.
The opposite is უკვე (already): უკვე ვიცი (I already know).
