არ მინახავს (Have Never Done)
Have Never Done
The perfect with არ says something has not happened: ეს ფილმი არ მინახავს (I haven't seen this film).
How It Works
Put არ before a perfect to say that something has not happened, up to now:
- ეს ფილმი არ მინახავს. (I haven't seen this film.)
- ნინოს ჯერ არ დაურეკია. (Nino hasn't called yet.)
Here there is no apparently: the speaker knows. This is how Georgian says haven't, haven't yet and have never:
| Meaning | Example |
|---|---|
| haven't | არ მინახავს |
| haven't yet | ჯერ არ მინახავს |
| have never | არასდროს მინახავს |
With არასდროს, no extra არ is needed, though you will also hear არასდროს არ მინახავს.
Compare the past: არ ვნახე means I didn't see it, on one occasion. არ მინახავს means I haven't seen it, at any time up to now.
The case pattern stays the perfect one, also with არ: ეს ფილმი is nominative.
