How It Works

El congrés és a Girona locates the conference as an event. La reunió serà a la sala gran locates a future meeting. The event can be brief or last several days; duration does not change this basic ser pattern into a mechanical estar rule.

A person or object at a location has a different set of contextual and regional choices. Els ponents són a la sala reports presence, while s'estaran a Girona una setmana emphasizes their stay. Do not infer the event rule from a simple permanent/temporary distinction.

Hi can recover the event location where the construction and context allow it, but a full place phrase is often clearer when announcing where an activity will happen.
