hi (complements de règim)
Hi with Governed Prepositional Complements
Hi replaces many recoverable complements governed by a or en.
How It Works
Some verbs require a preposition as part of their construction: pensar en el problema, renunciar al càrrec. When that complement is understood, hi can replace it: hi penso, hi renuncio. Hi therefore does not always mean there.
The preposition in the full construction is a diagnostic, not the whole answer. Participar en un projecte gives hi participa, while a human recipient introduced by a commonly requires li rather than hi. Oposar-se a also keeps its reflexive pronoun, producing s'hi oposa. When several possible antecedents occur in a paragraph, repeat the full complement if hi would leave the reader unable to identify which issue is meant.
