हमार / हमनी के

My and Our

Level 1Sounds Like hamāra ā hamanī kē

हमार means my and हमनी के means our.

How It Works

Possessives come before the noun and never change for gender or number.

MeaningNo postpositionWith a postposition
myहमार किताबहमरा किताब में
ourहमनी के घरहमनी के घर में

Compare हमार माई (my mother) with हमरा माई से (from my mother). The change to हमरा happens only when a postposition such as में, से or के follows.

Your (तोहार) and his or her (ओकर) work the same way.

Do not mix हमार with Hindi मेरा. The everyday Bhojpuri word for my is हमार, or हमरा before a postposition.
