चाहीं

Saying What You Need

Level 1Sounds Like cāhīṁ

हमरा पानी चाहीं means I need water.

How It Works

Bhojpuri does not say I want water with हम as the subject. It says to me, water is needed. That is why the person takes the हमरा form.

PersonFormExample
Iहमराहमरा चाय चाहीं।
you (friend)तोहरातोहरा चाय चाहीं?
you (respectful)रउरारउरा चाय चाहीं?
he, sheओकराओकरा चाय चाहीं।

चाहीं does not change for gender, number or person. For a named person, use के: नेहा के चाय चाहीं।

To say you do not need something, put ना before चाहीं: हमरा चीनी ना चाहीं। To say you want to do something, use a different pattern, चाहल.
