इहाँ means here and उहाँ means there.

How It Works

इहाँ and उहाँ mark near and far.

Put them before the verb. Add से to say from here or from there: इहाँ से (from here), उहाँ से (from there).

They answer the question कहाँ: तुम कहाँ हौ? इहाँ अही. They also pair with जहाँ: जहाँ चाय मिली, उहाँ बइठब (where there is tea, there I will sit).

In Lakhimpur and nearby places you may hear हुआँ for there. The lessons use उहाँ.
