যিমান … সিমান
As Much as …
যিমান পাৰোঁ means “as much as I can”.
How It Works
যিমান sets an amount, and সিমান repeats it. Together they compare two things.
| Pattern | Means |
|---|---|
| যিমান … সিমান … | as much as … that much |
| যিমান পাৰোঁ | as much as I can |
| সিমান alone | that much |
In a negative sentence, the pair says “not as … as …”: এই বাটটো দেখাত যিমান দীঘল সিমান দীঘল নহয় “this road is not as long as it looks”.
The verb পাৰ takes its usual ending: যিমান পাৰোঁ for মই, যিমান পাৰা for তুমি, যিমান পাৰে for আপুনি. সিমান alone is common, as in মই সিমান নোশোওঁ “I do not sleep that much”.
