ইমান / সিমান
So Much and That Much
ইমান says how much or how very: আজি ইমান গৰম! “how hot it is today!”. সিমান says “that much”: মই সিমান নোশোওঁ “I do not sleep that much”.
How It Works
| Word | Meaning | Example |
|---|---|---|
| ইমান | so, this much | সি ইমান ওখ! “How tall he is!” |
| সিমান | that much | মই সিমান নোশোওঁ। “I do not sleep that much.” |
Before a describing word, ইমান is often an exclamation: পানী ইমান ঠাণ্ডা! “the water is so cold!”. Before a verb, it measures the action: ইমান নপঠিয়াব “do not send so much”.
In a negative sentence, ইমানো means “really that”: ইমানো সহজ নহয় “it is not really that easy”.
সিমান points back to an amount that both speakers already know, so you often meet it in a negative sentence.
