সি খাওঁতে কথা নকয় means “he does not talk while eating”.

How It Works

The clause with -ওঁতে sets the time. The main verb comes after it and can be in any tense: কাপোৰ ধোওঁতে নাজমাই এটা গান গাইছিল “Nazma sang a song while she washed clothes”.

Use থাকোঁতে with সৰু “small” to say “when I was young”: মই সৰু থাকোঁতে.

The main verb can be a statement or a request. In ঘৰলৈ আহোঁতে বজাৰৰ পৰা অলপ কল কিনি আনিব it is a polite request, and ঘৰলৈ “home” makes আহোঁতে mean “on the way home”.

    খাওঁতে means “while eating”.

  2. ঘৰলৈ আহোঁতে বজাৰৰ পৰা অলপ কল কিনি আনিব।

    Bring some bananas from the market on your way home.

    আহোঁতে means “while coming”, here on the way home.

  3. মই সৰু থাকোঁতে আইতাই মোক সাধু কৈছিল।

    When I was small, my grandmother told me stories.

    সৰু থাকোঁতে is “when I was small”.

  4. কাপোৰ ধোওঁতে নাজমাই এটা গান গাইছিল।

    Nazma sang a song while she washed clothes.

    ধোওঁতে is the action that goes on at the same time.

  5. মই টিভি চাই থাকোঁতে আইয়ে মোক মাতিলে।

    While I was watching TV, my mother called me.

    চাই থাকোঁতে is “while I keep watching”.
