লওঁ / লোৱা / লয়

Take: লওঁ, লোৱা, লয়

Level 2Sounds Like la'ōm̐ / lōraā / laẏa

ল “take” gives মই লওঁ, তুমি লোৱা and সি লয়; the negative is নলয়.

How It Works

Verbs that end in a vowel sound change a little before the ending.

Personল “take”খা “eat”
মইলওঁখাওঁ
তুমিলোৱাখোৱা
সি, তাই, আপুনি, তেওঁলয়খায়

With the negative: মই নলওঁ, তেওঁ উপহাৰ নলয় “he does not accept gifts”.

The friendly command is লোৱাঁ, with a nasal mark, as in উশাহ লোৱাঁ “take a breath”.

The future of ল has an apostrophe: ল’ম, ল’বা, ল’ব.

The same endings -ওঁ, -ৱা and -য় go on খা, ক, চা and হ, so one pattern covers five common verbs.
