Look: চাওঁ, চোৱা, চায়

Level 2Sounds Like cā'ōm̐ / cōraā / cāẏa

চা “look” gives মই চাওঁ, তুমি চোৱা and তেওঁ চায়; the negative is নাচায়.

How It Works

Use চা for looking and watching.

PersonFormExample
মইচাওঁমই টিভি চাওঁ “I watch TV”
তুমিচোৱাতুমি কি চোৱা? “what are you looking at?”
সি, তাই, আপুনিচায়তাই নদীৰ ফালে চায় “she looks towards the river”

To say where the eyes go, use ফালে after the -ৰ form: সেইটোৰ ফালে চায় “looks at that”.

The negative prefix copies the vowel of the form that follows: নাচায় for চায়, নোচোৱা for চোৱা.

The form চাওঁ can also mean “let us see”: চাওঁ কি হয় “let us see what happens”.
