-(a)ylik
Let's: -(a)ylik
-(a)ylik means let's: ket- → Ketaylik! (Let's go!).
How It Works
This is the command form for biz, and it suggests doing something together:
- After a consonant: -aylik. ket- → ketaylik (let's go), ich- → ichaylik (let's drink), gapir- → gapiraylik (let's talk).
- After a vowel: -ylik. ishla- → ishlaylik (let's work), oʻqi- → oʻqiylik (let's read).
Questions. With a question word it asks what the group should do: Qayerga boraylik? (Where shall we go?), Nima qilaylik? (What shall we do?).
Let's not. Put -ma- after the stem: kechikmaylik (let's not be late), unutmaylik (let's not forget).
A suggestion, not a statement. Ketamiz means we go or we will go; it reports a plan. Ketaylik invites others to agree. In casual speech you will also hear Ketdik! (literally we went) used as let's go!.
Friendlier. Adding -chi makes the invitation warmer: Boraylik-chi! (Come on, let's go!).
For let me, use -(a)y; to tell a group to do something without you, use -inglar.
