บางครั้ง means “sometimes” or “on some occasions.” Read which action or state has that frequency in the complete sentence.

How It Works

1. Read The Occasions
บางครั้งฉันก็อยากอยู่คนเดียว says that the wish to be alone occurs on some occasions. เราไปกินข้าวนอกบ้านเป็นบางครั้ง gives the frequency of eating out. เขาบางครั้งก็มาสาย places บางครั้ง after เขา in the displayed sentence.

2. Follow The Whole Examples
The examples show more than one position for the frequency phrase. Some also contain ก็. Read the complete model sentences rather than ranking every possible order or requiring ก็ merely because บางครั้ง appears.

3. Read บางที In Context
บางทีเขาก็ดี บางทีเขาก็ร้าย contrasts occasions when he is good with occasions when he is mean. Here บางที has a sometimes reading, also recorded in the dictionary. It is not confined to an English “perhaps” gloss.

4. Follow The Requested Meaning
The card asks about uncertainty over where he is now. Its target is บางทีเขาอาจจะอยู่ที่บ้าน. Replacing บางที with บางครั้ง adds a reference to some occasions and does not reproduce that selected single-situation meaning. This task does not ban a meaningful combination of frequency with อาจจะ in a recurring situation.

    In this sentence, repeated บางที presents contrasting occasions: sometimes he is good and sometimes he is mean. It is not the perhaps reading here.

  4. เขาบางครั้งก็มาสาย

    He sometimes comes late.

    This shows the pre-verbal placement (between the subject and the verb) with the linking particle ก็.

Common Mistakes

  • When expressing uncertainty about where he is now, adding a sometimes reference instead of the requested perhaps meaning.

    บางครั้งเขาอาจจะอยู่ที่บ้าน
    บางทีเขาอาจจะอยู่ที่บ้าน

    For the present uncertainty requested here, use บางทีเขาอาจจะอยู่ที่บ้าน. บางครั้งเขาอาจจะอยู่ที่บ้าน gives a sometimes/on-some-occasions reference instead and can have a meaningful reading in a recurring context. It does not give the requested single-situation perhaps reading.
