ซะที
At Long Last
ซะที follows the action in these examples. เสร็จซะที! expresses that something is finally finished; ไปซะทีเถอะ urges someone to go already.
How It Works
1. An action finally happens:
เสร็จซะที! can mean "Finally finished!" It does not by itself specify a long or difficult task. In มาซะทีนะ รอตั้งนาน, the second clause explicitly says that the speaker has waited a long time.
2. Urging an action:
เลิกบ่นซะทีได้ไหม asks someone to stop complaining already. ไปซะทีเถอะ urges someone to go. Neither request proves that the action has happened, and neither requires it to happen for all future time.
3. Read the whole clause:
In these examples, ซะที follows the verb or verb phrase. The particles นะ and เถอะ can follow it, so it is not required to be the final written element. A following or surrounding clause can also supply the reason for waiting or urging.
4. Keep related expressions distinct:
ในที่สุด is another expression for "finally." The preserved pair below requests เสียที in its particular project sentence; it does not establish that ซะที is impossible in every report or that เสียที and สักที can replace it everywhere. This entry does not establish a contraction history, pronunciation, frequency ranking or complete inventory of those expressions.
Examples (5)
- เสร็จซะที!
Finally finished!
Word by Word: finish finally
The speaker presents something as finally finished. The sentence does not specify the task's length, difficulty or the speaker's exact feeling.
- มาซะทีนะ รอตั้งนาน
You are finally here; I have been waiting a long time.
Word by Word: come finally [particle], wait [emphatic] long
The English supplies 'you' and 'I' from the arrival context. รอตั้งนาน explicitly describes a long wait, but gives no exact duration or fixed degree of annoyance.
- เลิกบ่นซะทีได้ไหม
Can you stop complaining already?
Word by Word: stop complain finally can [question]
This asks the listener to stop complaining already. It does not state that the listener has stopped or promise that they will never complain again.
- เข้าใจซะทีนะ
Finally, you understand.
Word by Word: understand finally [particle]
This English chooses a context where understanding has been reached. In another context, the sentence can urge understanding. Written นะ alone does not establish a question, a long explanation or an exact spoken attitude.
- ไปซะทีเถอะ
Just go already!
Word by Word: go finally [urging]
The whole sentence urges departure, with เถอะ following ซะที. It does not establish that someone has left or prescribe a fixed strength of urgency.
Common Mistakes
Not following the requested เสียที wording in this pair.
โครงการนี้สำเร็จซะทีโครงการนี้สำเร็จเสียทีThe requested example uses เสียที in โครงการนี้สำเร็จเสียที. The retained alternative with ซะที can have meaning in its own context; this comparison does not prove a universal ban in formal writing or require the same replacement in every sentence.
Changing the order of the requested เสร็จซะที construction.
ซะทีเสร็จแล้วเสร็จซะทีThe requested phrase has เสร็จ before ซะที. The retained ซะทีเสร็จแล้ว does not reproduce that construction. This comparison does not establish that ซะที can never appear at the start of a fragment, quotation or context with an understood action.
How It Connects

To understand 'ซะที' (At Long Last), you need to be familiar with how Thai marks completed actions and the use of the emphatic particle 'ซะ'. It is most commonly used after verbs that imply a process has finally reached its conclusion.

The particle 'ซะ' is a component of 'ซะที' and provides the nuance of 'just getting something done' or emphasis.
Level 4 - Verb + เสร็จFinished Doing
Since 'ซะที' is often used with verbs of completion to indicate relief, understanding how to express 'finished' is a key functional building block.
