بنابراین / با این حال

Argument and Discourse Links

Level 6

Premise → بنابراین → conclusion. Obstacle → با این حال → continuing claim.

How It Works

Read a stated conclusion. اتوبوس نیامد؛ بنابراین پیاده رفتیم presents walking as the result of the bus not coming. The semicolon separates the clauses while the connector states their relation.

Read a continuing result. راه دور بود؛ با این حال پیاده رفتیم accepts the distance and says that walking still occurred. It does not deny the earlier statement or convert distance into the reason for walking.

Keep reference across sentences. هوا سرد بود. با این حال، بچه‌ها در حیاط بازی کردند makes the contrast depend on the previous sentence. Read the connected passage, rather than extracting the second sentence without its obstacle.

Check the argument. A writer can use بنابراین with a weak inference. The connector shows a claimed conclusion, not proof that the claim is logically necessary. Separate the writer’s stance from the factual content of the premise.

Distinguish a reason from the conclusion drawn from it. Read a factual obstacle that does not prevent the main result. Track the relation between full clauses instead of relying on an isolated translation.
