How It Works

Read overlapping time. در حالی که غذا می‌پختم، سارا رسید puts Sara’s arrival during cooking. می‌پختم gives ongoing past background and رسید names the bounded arrival.

Read contrast. من چای می‌خواهم، در حالی که او قهوه می‌خواهد contrasts preferences. It does not require the two requests to have started at precisely the same moment.

Keep each subject. The clause after در حالی که can have a different person from the other clause. Read پختم, رسید and می‌خواهد with their own endings rather than assigning every verb to the first named participant.

Check what is asserted. In او می‌گوید آماده است، در حالی که کار هنوز تمام نشده است, the writer contrasts a reported claim with an unfinished task. The connector helps relate those statements; it does not independently prove which claim is correct.
