Reading From Right to Left
Start a Persian word at its right-hand side. A number such as ۳۲ still means thirty-two.
How It Works
Follow the word. In سلام, begin with س at the right, then read ل، ا، م. The letters may join, but their reading order stays the same.
Follow the sentence. In من اینجا هستم., begin with من on the right and continue through اینجا to هستم. A period ends the sentence even if mixed-direction text makes its placement look unfamiliar.
Keep numbers together. Persian digits are ۰ ۱ ۲ ۳ ۴ ۵ ۶ ۷ ۸ ۹. The string ۳۲ represents thirty-two, not twenty-three. In a Persian sentence, treat a number or a Latin-script name as a small unit with its own direction.
The script has no capital letters. A new sentence or a person’s name does not require a larger or different uppercase letter.
