ai vint ans
Saying Your Age
Occitan gives an age with the verb to have.
How It Works
| Person | Example | Meaning |
|---|---|---|
| ieu | Ai trenta ans. | I am thirty. |
| tu | As vint ans. | You are twenty. |
| el, ela | Maria a quaranta ans. | Maria is forty. |
Take a form of aver, then the number and ans (years). The verb èsser does not work here: Soi vint ans is a mistake. For one year the noun is singular: Mon fraire a un an.
Ask with aver as well: Quant as d'ans? to a friend and Quant avètz d'ans? to someone you address politely. The d' is de before the vowel of ans.
