-एछ
Reporting a Discovery About the Past
-एछ is a short form of -एको रहेछ. You use it when you see the result of something that happened while you were not watching.
How It Works
You walk out and the road is wet. You did not see the rain, but you see what it left. In Nepali you say पानी परेछ.
| Person | Form of गर्नु |
|---|---|
| तिमी | गरेछौ |
| ऊ | गरेछ |
| उनी, several people | गरेछन् |
| ऊ, a woman | गरिछे |
| उनी, a woman | गरिछिन् |
The form comes from -एको रहेछ, so the idea is the same: the speaker has just found out. The speaker usually did not do the action.
After -इसक्नु the form is -इसकेछ: बस त गइसकेछ (the bus has already gone). With intransitive verbs there is no ले: रमेश बिरामी परेछ. With a verb that acts on something, the doer keeps ले, as in the plain perfect: तिमीले त सबै खाएछौ।
Do not use it for your own memory of what you did. You know that already, so you say a plain past like मैले खाएँ.
