मला पाहिजे / मला नको

Wanting a Thing

Level 1Sounds Like malā pāhijē / malā nakō

For more than one thing, पाहिजे becomes पाहिजेत and नको becomes नकोत.

How It Works

One thingMore than one
wantमला पाणी पाहिजे.मला दोन वह्या पाहिजेत.
do not wantमला भाजी नको.मला पुस्तके नकोत.

The person is always in the -ला form: मला, तुला, तिला, आम्हाला, तुम्हाला, त्यांना. The wanted thing comes in the middle.

To ask, add का at the end: तुला चहा पाहिजे का? You can answer with just नको.

पाहिजे also means need, so मला पाणी पाहिजे can mean I want water or I need water.

The words हवा, हवी and हवे mean the same as पाहिजे, but they change with the thing wanted.
