-बद्दल / -विषयी
About a Topic
-बद्दल is the everyday word, and -विषयी sounds a little more formal.
How It Works
Use them where English says about.

The usual verbs are बोलणे, विचारणे, सांगणे, लिहिणे and विचार करणे.
-बद्दल also carries thanks: मदतीबद्दल धन्यवाद means thanks for the help.
Ask the question with कशाबद्दल? for a thing and कोणाबद्दल? for a person. -विषयी works in the same places and is common in writing: त्याने गावाविषयी सांगितले.
A longer example shows the pattern: आम्ही सुट्टीबद्दल बोलत होतो. We were talking about the holiday. The ending always sits right after the topic, before the verb.
Do not use -त for about. -त means in or inside: सिनेमात means in the film, and सिनेमाबद्दल means about the film.
Add का for a question: तुम्ही सिनेमाबद्दल बोलता का? means do you talk about the film?

She thinks a lot about the exam.
परीक्षेबद्दल names what she thinks about.
- मदतीबद्दल धन्यवाद.
Thanks for the help.
मदतीबद्दल gives the thing the thanks are for.
Common Mistakes
Writing -बद्दल as a separate word.
आम्ही सिनेमा बद्दल बोलतो.आम्ही सिनेमाबद्दल बोलतो.-बद्दल is an ending and joins the word.
Using माझे before -बद्दल.
तो माझेबद्दल बोलला.तो माझ्याबद्दल बोलला.Before -बद्दल, मी takes the joining shape माझ्या-.
