दियौ / दियौन

Commands That Notice the Receiver

Level 4Sounds Like diyau ā diyauna

Commands also show who receives: दियौ for a plain receiver and दियौन for a respected one.

How It Works

Choose the ending by the receiver.

ReceiverCommandExample
anyone, no respect markedदिअहमरा पानि दिअ।
plainदियौबउआ केँ दूध दियौ।
respectedदियौनबाबा केँ चाह दियौन।

It matches the past forms देलियै and देलियनि. The -न shows respect in both pairs.

The receiver comes first with केँ. A pronoun uses the object form: ओकरा किताब दियौ, हुनका दवाइ दियौन.

These endings are for commands to अहाँ. Commands to तोँ use दे.

Write दियौ and दियौन. Some books write दिऔ and दिऔन्ह. Use the y-spelling.
