თავი (Oneself)
Oneself
თავი means head, and it also means oneself: myself, yourself, himself.
How It Works
| Phrase | Meaning |
|---|---|
| თავს კარგად ვგრძნობ. | I feel well. |
| თავს გაუფრთხილდი! | Take care of yourself! |
| სარკეში საკუთარ თავს ვხედავ. | I see myself in the mirror. |
| ნინომ თავი გაგვაცნო. | Nino introduced herself to us. |
| თავი დამანებე! | Leave me alone! |
The case of თავი (tavi) follows the verb, like any noun. ვგრძნობ (I feel) is in the present, so თავს is dative. გაგვაცნო (introduced to us) is in the past group, so თავი is nominative. გაუფრთხილდი (take care of) keeps its other person in the dative in every tense, so it says თავს.
Many fixed phrases use თავი without a possessive, because the verb already shows whose it is: თავს კარგად ვგრძნობ can only be about me.
Keep it apart from თავისი (his own, her own) and თვითონ (in person): თვითონ გააკეთა (he did it himself).
