თვითონ
Myself, Yourself
თვითონ or თავად adds -self for emphasis: თვითონ გავაკეთე (I did it myself).
How It Works
| Georgian | English |
|---|---|
| თვითონ (tviton) დავრეკავ. | I'll make the call myself. |
| თვითონ ჰკითხე. | Ask him yourself. |
| ნინომ თვითონ გააკეთა. | Nino made it herself. |
The verb tells you who it is, so თვითონ is enough without a pronoun. You can add one for more weight: მე თვითონ (I myself).
It can also mean on your own, without help: ბავშვმა თვითონ ჩაიცვა (the child got dressed by himself).
თვითონ stays the same in the past too, even when the doer next to it takes the ergative, as in ნინომ თვითონ.
თავად (tavad) is common in writing and in polite speech: თავად ნახავთ (you will see for yourself).
