Plurals in Every Case
A plural noun takes the same case endings as a singular one, added after -ებ-.
How It Works
| Job | Form |
|---|---|
| nominative | ბავშვები |
| dative | ბავშვებს |
| genitive | ბავშვების |
| instrumental | ბავშვებით |
| in, among | ბავშვებში |
| at, with | ბავშვებთან |
| for | ბავშვებისთვის |
| from | ბავშვებიდან |
Changes in the noun itself come first. A word that loses a vowel loses it in every plural form: მეგობრები, მეგობრებთან (at friends', with friends).
After a number the noun stays singular, so these forms are for plurals without a number: ბავშვებთან (with the children), but ორი ბავშვი (two children).
An adjective before a plural noun takes its usual case shape and never the plural: დიდ ქალაქებში (in big cities). The -ებ- itself never changes; only the ending after it does.
