ჯერ ... მერე ... ბოლოს
First, Then, Finally
ჯერ means first, მერე means then and ბოლოს means finally.
How It Works
In a story about yesterday, the verbs are in the past:
- ჯერ (jer) მცხეთაში წავედით. (First we went to Mtskheta.)
- მერე (mere) სიღნაღში. (Then to Sighnaghi.)
- ბოლოს (bolos) კი თბილისში დავბრუნდით. (And finally we came back to Tbilisi.)
The კი after ბოლოს marks the last step against the others, like and finally.
For a plan, use the future: ჯერ ბილეთს ვიყიდი, მერე სასტუმროს ვიპოვი (first I'll buy a ticket, then I'll find a hotel).
For instructions, use orders: ჯერ წყალი მოადუღე, მერე ჩაი ჩაყარე (first boil the water, then put in the tea).
Don't mix up ბოლოს (finally, at the end) with ბოლო (last, the end). And ჯერ also means yet in ჯერ არ (not yet).
