After a genitive, საშუალებით means by means of, through or via.

How It Works

საშუალება (sashualeba) means a means or a way. Its instrumental form საშუალებით follows a genitive and says what made something possible:

  • ინტერნეტის საშუალებით (via the internet)
  • თარჯიმნის საშუალებით (through an interpreter)
  • ამ აპლიკაციის საშუალებით (with this app)

Use it for channels, services and people who pass something on, and in writing. For a vehicle or a simple tool, the instrumental ending alone is shorter and more natural: ავტობუსით მოვედი (I came by bus), ხელით დავწერე (I wrote it by hand).

Keep it apart from -ის მიერ, which names the doer of a passive verb: წიგნი ნინოს მიერ არის დაწერილი (the book was written by Nino). საშუალებით names the way something was done.

With a pronoun, use the possessive form: მისი საშუალებით (by means of it).

    He found his old friends through a social network.

    The phrase works in any tense; here the past.

  • Leaving the means in the nominative.

    ბილეთები ინტერნეტი საშუალებით ვიყიდეთ.
    ბილეთები ინტერნეტის საშუალებით ვიყიდეთ.

    The means goes in the genitive before საშუალებით.
