არც ... არც
Neither ... nor
Put არც before each choice to say neither ... nor.
How It Works
| Georgian | English |
|---|---|
| არც ჩაი მინდა, არც ყავა. | I want neither tea nor coffee. |
| არც ვჭამ, არც ვსვამ. | I neither eat nor drink. |
| არც გიორგი მოვიდა, არც ნინო. | Neither Giorgi nor Nino came. |
არც (arts) is არ plus -ც, the ending for too and also. So a short reply with არც means me neither: — ზაფხული არ მიყვარს. — არც მე. (I don't like summer. — Me neither.)
Each noun keeps the case its verb needs. With a present-tense verb like ვსვამ, both objects are in the dative: არც ყავას ვსვამ, არც ჩაის.
In speech you will also hear an extra არ before the verb: არც მე არ ვიცი. Both ways are normal Georgian.
