In View of
С оглед на обстоятелствата (in view of the circumstances), предвид времето (given the weather).
How It Works
1. Taking something into account. (In view of the circumstances, we decided to postpone the trip). (Given the bad weather, the match is postponed).
2. С оглед на can also point to a goal. It then means with a view to: Събираме данни с оглед на бъдещи изследвания (We are collecting data with a view to future research). In this sense it is close to с цел.
3. Before a clause. (Given that it is Sunday, the pharmacy closes early), A common alternative is като се има предвид, че (considering that). In older and literary texts you may also see Today предвид without на is the usual form.
4. Предвид in other phrases. The same word appears in имам предвид (I mean) and вземам предвид (take into account): Какво имаш предвид? (What do you mean?). It is always one word, with no preposition in front: предвид, never в предвид.
5. Register. Both belong to official, legal and news language, together with относно and вследствие на. To give an ordinary reason in speech, use заради or тъй като.
