Full Object Pronouns
After a preposition, a pronoun takes its full form: за мен (for me), с тях (with them), до нея (next to her).
How It Works
1. The forms.
- той → него (him), тя → нея (her), то → него (it)
- ние → нас (us), вие → вас (you), те → тях (them)
Мене and мен are both correct, and so are тебе and теб. The shorter мен and теб are more common in writing.
2. After prepositions. This is the most common use: за мен (for me), с тях (with them), при нея (at her place), от вас (from you). This includes comparisons: по-висок от мен (taller than me). The subject forms аз, ти, той never follow a preposition.
3. For emphasis and contrast. Normally an object pronoun is short: Видях го. (I saw him.) Use the full form only to stress or contrast the person: Него видях, не нея. (It was him I saw, not her.) See short object pronouns.
4. Standing alone. In a one-word answer or a list, use the full form: — Кого чакаш? (Who are you waiting for? You.)
5. With на. На мен, на него and so on mean to me, to him. They are often doubled by a short form: На мен ми харесва. (I like it.) See emphatic doubled pronouns.

This present is for you.

"Who are you waiting for?" "You."
We are talking about you.
She is taller than me.

Common Mistakes
Using a short pronoun after a preposition.
Short forms such as ме and те cannot follow a preposition. Use мен or мене.
Using a subject pronoun after от in comparisons.
От is a preposition, so it needs the full object form мен, not the subject form аз.
Using the subject form те after a preposition.
After a preposition, they becomes тях.
