Относно срещата (Regarding the meeting) and Във връзка с вашето писмо (In connection with your letter) introduce the topic in formal writing.

How It Works

1. Относно = about, regarding. It names the topic: въпроси относно договора (questions about the contract), информация относно курса (information about the course). In an official letter or email, it heads the subject line: Относно: Покана за среща (Re: Invitation to a meeting). In conversation, за is the everyday choice: въпроси за договора.

2. Във връзка с = in connection with. It ties what you say to something that already happened: Във връзка с вашето запитване ви изпращаме цените (In connection with your inquiry, we are sending you the prices). It also gives the occasion for a notice: Във връзка с празника магазинът няма да работи (Because of the holiday, the shop will be closed).

3. The small words change form. Във is used because връзка begins with в (see в/във). The final с becomes със before a word that starts with с or з: във връзка със стачката (in connection with the strike). See с/със.

4. Before a clause. Neither preposition can be followed directly by че. Add това: Във връзка с това, че сградата се ремонтира, входът е отзад (Since the building is being renovated, the entrance is at the back).

5. Register. Both belong to official letters, reports and announcements, like с оглед на and в резултат на. In a chat with a friend, за sounds natural.
