В резултат на + noun and вследствие на + noun mean as a result of: Вследствие на наводнението пътят беше затворен.
How It Works
1. With a noun. Both expressions are followed by a noun phrase, often a verbal noun:
- В резултат на кризата много фирми затвориха. (As a result of the crisis, many companies closed.)
- Вследствие на наводнението пътят беше затворен. (As a consequence of the flood, the road was closed.)
- Той се разболя в резултат на преумора. (He fell ill as a result of overwork.)
2. Linking sentences. В резултат на това refers back to the previous sentence: Цените се повишиха. В резултат на това продажбите намаляха. (Prices rose. As a result, sales fell.)
3. Before a clause. Neither expression can be followed directly by a verb. Insert това, че: Вследствие на това, че влакът закъсня, пропуснахме срещата. (Because the train was late, we missed the meeting.)
4. Spelling. Вследствие is written as one word. Do not confuse it with the noun следствие (consequence; criminal investigation). В резултат always needs на before a noun. Вследствие is also followed by на in today's usage; older texts sometimes leave it out.
5. Register. These belong to formal writing. In speech, say заради дъжда (because of the rain) or use a clause with защото. Related formal words are следователно and с оглед на.

Writing вследствие as two words.

Putting a verb directly after the expression.
