जनि and नाहीं

Songs and eastern Uttar Pradesh speech use जनि for don't and नाहीं for no or not.

How It Works

Two small words differ between eastern and Ara Bhojpuri.

जनि	मत	don't
नाहीं	ना	no, not

जनि goes before the command: जनि जाईं, जनि रोवऽ. In Ara you would say मत जाईं, मत रोवऽ.

नाहीं goes before the verb, or stands alone as "no": हम नाहीं जानीले. In Ara: हम ना जानीले.

Both are good Bhojpuri. In your own speech, use मत and ना. Learn जनि and नाहीं so you can read songs.
