गइल बा

Has Gone and Has Come

Level 3Sounds Like ga'ila bā

A verb with no object usually keeps -ल before बा: it says what state things are in now.

How It Works

The -ल form works like an adjective: it names the state after the action. गइल बा is has gone, सुतल बा is is asleep, पहुँचल बा is has arrived.

WhoForm
हमगइल बानी
तूगइल बाड़ऽ
ऊगइल बा
ऊ (a woman)गइल बाड़ी
respected man, ऊ लोगगइल बाड़ें

Compare with the -ले बा pattern, which is mostly for verbs with an object (देखले बा). Both use बा; only the ending of the verb differs.

For the past, use रहे: ऊ बजार गइल रहे.
