कि नाहीं
Or Not: कि नाहीं
कि can mean or, and कि नाहीं at the end asks or not.
How It Works
कि joins two choices.
- तुम चाय पियत हौ कि कॉफी? (Do you drink tea or coffee?)
- तुम चलिहौ कि नाहीं? (Are you coming or not?)
नाहीं at the end of the question is the second choice. The first half uses the normal verb; add कि नाहीं after it.
It makes a polite question a little firmer. Use it when you need an answer: ऊ आई कि नाहीं?
Do not mix it up with the other कि that comes after a verb like said or thought: कि. That कि is "that"; this one is "or".
Hindi says या नहीं. Awadhi says कि नाहीं.
