हमका / हमैं
To Me: हमका and हमैं
हमका and हमैं both mean to me.
How It Works
Two forms mean to me and to us.
| Form | Example | Meaning |
|---|---|---|
| हमका | हमका जाड़ लागत अहै। | I feel cold. |
| हमैं | हमैं पानी चाही। | I need water. |
Both are made from हम. हमका is built with का, like all other to-forms. हमैं is a shorter form.
Use them with feeling words and needs: हमका नीक लागत अहै (I like it), हमका चाही (I need). Awadhi says that something is felt to me, rather than that I feel it.
They also work like Hindi मुझे, with verbs of giving and telling: अम्मा हमका बतावत अहैं (Mom is telling me).
The matching forms for other people are तुमका (to you) and ओका (to him or her).
