का for Marking a Person
To: का
का marks the person who receives something or is spoken to, like Hindi को.
How It Works
This का means to. It is also what Hindi को does.
| Use | Example |
|---|---|
| calling someone | अम्मा का फोन करौ। |
| giving to someone | हम अमित का किताब देत अही। |
| telling someone | परिवारन का बताव। |
The things being given or made do not take का: तुम चाय पियत हौ, not तुम चाय का पियत हौ. Usually only the person or the animal that receives or is called gets it.
Pronouns have their own forms: हमका (to me), तुमका (to you), ओका (to him or her), उनका (to them).
The same word का also means what and ends yes or no questions. The place in the sentence shows which one it is.
