মনোৰম নিশা, নহয়নে? means “a lovely night, isn’t it?”.

How It Works

The tag turns a statement into a question that invites agreement. A নেকি question asks for new information, and this tag does not.

ListenerStatementTag
তুমিতুমি জানানহয়নে?
আপুনিআপুনি জানেনহয়নে?

The statement can be a full sentence, as in তুমি এই বাটটো ভালকৈ জানা, নহয়নে?, or only a few words, as in মনোৰম নিশা, নহয়নে?. The tag stays the same when the statement is in the past: কালি বৰষুণ বহুত হ’ল, নহয়নে? “it rained a lot yesterday, didn’t it?”. Speakers often add বাৰু to soften it: নয়নমণি বৰ লাজকুৰীয়া, নহয়নে বাৰু? “Nayanmoni is very shy, isn’t she?”.

Writers choose between নহয় নে and নহয়নে. Both are correct. The usual reply is হয় or অঁ “yes”.
