Assamese Digits
৫০ টকা means “fifty rupees”. Prices, years and dates are written with these digits.
How It Works
These are the ten digits, with the word for each.
| Digit | Word | Digit | Word |
|---|---|---|---|
| ০ | শূন্য | ৫ | পাঁচ |
| ১ | এক | ৬ | ছয় |
| ২ | দুই | ৭ | সাত |
| ৩ | তিনি | ৮ | আঠ |
| ৪ | চাৰি | ৯ | ন |
The digits are written like Bengali digits. A bigger number puts the digits side by side, so ৫০ is “fifty” and ২০২৫ is “2025”.
Use the Assamese digits in Assamese text. Write counts of things with a classifier, a small word that goes with a number, as in দুটা “two things”.
To read a number aloud, say its words: ৫০ is পঞ্চাশ “fifty”.
